The Degenerate's Digest v.2

I’m not a guy who likes to brag too much. I’m not someone who goes around the internet, sharing how much of a winner I am.
Last week when I decided to start this new FSS bit, The Degenerates Digest, I knew it was going to be a hit. I knew I would go 4-1 on my picks, winning myself and everyone else cold hard cash. Cause I’m a winner, and winners win.
But again, I’m not someone who brags about it…onto Week 2 College Football picks.
Fresno State @ (1) Alabama: OVER 53
I have a similar explanation for this lovely lock as I did in last week’s Digest for the Clemson/Kent State over. First and foremost, Alabama is a power house. Vegas isn’t even providing odds for the moneyline, that’s how pointless it is (apologies to degenerates who wanted to throw their 401k on Bama only to win $10). But, when Vegas puts the spread at 43.5 and the o/u a mere 9.5 ahead of said spread, YOU CAN LOCK IT UP AND EVAPORATE THE KEY!
Final Score: Alabama 52 Fresno State 9
(23) TCU @ Arkansas: Arkansas OUTRIGHT
Out of all of my picks, this is the one I am the least confident about. But since I am a winner, and winner’s win, I’m not even going to take the points Vegas is so graciously handing me. And so, we have Arkansas at home in Fayetteville, pulling off the upset with an OUTRIGHT win against a ranked Horned Frogs squad. Kenny Hill and Austin Allen seem pretty even in my book, and sure, TCU may have a bit of an edge defensively. But the biggest thing here is the momentum of the home crowd. Razorback Stadium and the entire population of the state of Arkansas are going to help the Horned Frogs bounce their way back to Texas with a 1-1 record.
Final Score: Arkansas 27 TCU 21
Florida Atlantic @ (9) Wisconsin: Wisconsin -31.5
Every now and again you need to hedge your bets with some easy calls. I don’t even have to go into much detail here. Wisconsin at home against an accounting firm flag football team. This is the Happy Valley Akron Massacre from last weekend all over again. Take the 31.5.
Final Score: Wisconsin 53 Florida Atlantic 12
(5) Oklahoma vs. (2) Ohio State: Ohio State -7
“But did you see how Ohio State played in that first half against Indiana!? How can you possibly be so confident in a touchdown to push!!?” Listen here kids, Ohio State and Oklahoma is going to be a solid, solid game. But there are too many factors in favor of Ohio State to think anything less than a touchdown victory. Last season, J.T. Barrett threw all over Oklahoma’s defense IN Oklahoma. This year, the matchup comes to the Buckeye’s turf for the first home game of the season. The atmosphere is going to be electric, and Ohio State is coming off an electric second half against Indiana. Still not convinced? Still want to tell me Baker Mayfield is going to be an even match? Well kids, you’re wrong again. Baker Mayfield may be a Top 10 College QB, but he is going to face the best of the best in Ohio State’s defensive line. This game may look like a close one considering the conference and rankings, but it’s easy money, don’t over think it.
Final Score: Ohio State 35 Oklahoma 24
(14) Stanford vs. (6) USC: Stanford +6.5
I’m a big Sam Darnold guy. I’m a big Ronald Jones guy. But I’m not a big USC guy. I think USC is talented and will have a decent year, and this game in particular will be a very tight game throughout. However, you can’t give rival Stanford 6.5 points in this matchup so early on in the season. This is a huge rankings-differential spread. I would even go as far as to take Stanford OUTRIGHT (reflective in my final score). But given the rivalry and my appreciation for Sammy D, I’ll give USC a chance, and take the points.
Final Score: Stanford 28 USC 24
